Calibration detail

What We Optimised

The Mazda BT-50 3.2L uses the same five-cylinder diesel as the Ford Ranger PX. It is a well-built engine with solid remap headroom, particularly in mid-range torque where most owners feel the factory tune is lacking.

This 2016 automatic came in at 30,455 km — past the dealer service interval, with no warranty implications. The owner used the BT-50 for work and occasional towing, and felt the car was underpowered for its size.

After calibrating the boost, fuel rail pressure and injection timing, the BT-50 gained 34hp and 92Nm at the wheels. The improvement in mid-range torque was the most noticeable change — the engine now pulls strongly from 1,800 rpm rather than waiting until 2,500.
